Fashion Break: My Summer Office

There is one room in my home that is mine, all mine (supposedly) and that room is called” The Sanctuary”.  It’s true function is a sun porch but last year I enlisted the help of my son (ok I bribed him with money and a later curfew) redecorated with re-purposed items from around the house and claimed it for my own space.  I guess it would be the equivalent of a man cave but since I am a woman and in need of a relaxing, peaceful place…it has evolved into the sanctuary.  The  Sanctuary has been a bit bare lately because it lost it’s sofa to my daughter to help furnish her 1st apartment but as of this morning, we are back in business! My hubby and I finally moved the sofa we purchased a few months ago from the basement up to the sanctuary and voila, cozy, comfy, peaceful, summer office.  I have an old bookcase that I lined the shelves with books that I have read and loved (Kindle is my preferred choice now but these well loved books must stay), a magazine rack with my current fashion favs and a small table to hold my glass of wine. It also will double as the evening gathering spot for my husband and I to chill when he comes home from work on hot summer nights.  Perfection or at least it will be when I am done!  And yes those ugly vertical blinds have got to go but I haven’t found the right curtains yet.  I want soft, gauzy and breezy….also did I mention cheap! I will try to take a proper picture of the entire room when it’s done but the room is really small and I am not a photographer, so I don’t know how to shoot the angles correctly to get the right shot.  Any advice?

P.S. Do have your own “sanctuary”, summer office or woman space? Share ideas, pics or thoughts…I’d love to hear about your little corner of the world.

I know the Bible says not to be envious, but GIRL. This is outstanding. I can see you hanging your vision board in there when you’re done. This is a dream for me to have a place like this. I might just print this out to add to *my* vision board! WELL DONE!

We don’t have enough room for me to have my own space. Two rooms, a kitchen & a bathroom. That’s it. I can’t tell if you’re asking for photography or decoration advice but if you’re asking for photography advice, back up into the corners/doorway to try to capture the entire room, turn on the lights and/or take the photographs around sunrise or sunset to give it the most natural light (if there are windows). Try not to shoot into the light. You want the light source behind you if possible. Also try holding the camera over your head and shooting down to capture a smaller space.

My living room is my “lady space” right now and I promise you, your sanctuary walls are the same color as mine. Girl, further proof that you come for a visit you’ll feel right at home.

    PS
My sofa is also chocolate brown!!!!

Girl, I knew I would be “right at home” before the confirmation, lol. Just gotta get the plans together!

I love your space! We don’t have much room where we live, but the daybed in our “living room” (which is more like a den with a TV) is known as my “nest”, and Hubby and Stinky don’t get on it very often. Mine!!!

I also now have a reclining lawn chair on the porch which is also largely just for me.

If we buy a house, I’m doing my best to get one with a hidey-hole for me… I need my “alone time”.
